>SELVEDGE WIRES 
The wire which forms the top and bottom of wire netting. The name is also common to a fence wire placed at the top and bottom of netting, field fence or diamond mesh to support these products in a fence.

A misnomer applied to high strain steel wire. All fencing wire is manufactured from steel.
